I am a PE teacher and I'm trying to introduce mountain biking into my school. I've been on the Mountain Bike Leaders Course with Jay and Maddie Horton today and they were saying that they are working hard to try and get some local races going for next May. I explained that we had turned ourselves into a club and might be up for getting involved in organising an event and Jay seemed very keen to pursue this. The obvious choice would be Newnham which he feels would be fine as we now have Public Liability Insurance and he said that we woudl be able to keep the profits! www.fullysussed.co.uk/index.php?p=1_6_South-West-Race-SeriesThoughts please? ??

Good idea, as the club is a fair old size now and getting bigger, it would be great to be involved in organizing things and we wouldn't be short on marshals that's for sure. ;D

This sounds like a great idea Chris, although I think it would be nice to find a venue other than Newnham Park . There's no doubt that it can be a fantastic course, but most of the YOGi mountain bikers have ridden it to death over the years, and I think an alternative venue would generate more interest from club members and other local riders (non?). I have some friends who are pretty good trail builders, all we need is a cooperative farmer with some woodland, and hey presto! ;D

I see from Maddy & Jay's Fully Sussed website, that the Yogis are organising the Newnham rounds of the South West MTB series. Was wondering if we've made a start on this, and if there will be an opportunity for other members to get involved?

Hi Neal. As far as I know nothing has been formlised as yet. We will be needing help form our members throughout the year. If you yourself have any time to spare it would be very useful.
