More as an homage to Ken Middlemiss than a really wish to ride 100 miles in cold and wet conditions, I've entered the Exmoor Beast again this year.
I am planning to learn from my mistake of last year and sort out transport and accomodation early, but who's doing what? I saw the comments on the Yogi site but it would be good to have a discussion here.

I think I'll probably do the same as last year; drive up on the morning of the ride. It's an early start but hopefully the facilities at Butlins will be better and easier to find than last year's muddy field and chaotic parking. Was a horribly tough ride last year and I said I'd never do it again, but I seem to have signed up!

It's a long drive to minehead and if the conditions are anything like last year, it will be tough again to get to the final check point in time to do the 100 miles. Not that I really minded getting told that I had to divert onto the 100 km course last year.

I'm doing it along with Geoff Whitlow and Steve Preston (I think!!). Geoff is looking for accommodation close by so we'll see if he's successful - will keep you posted. I haven't done this route yet but if Mike Deacon thinks it's tough, I'm getting nervous

Thanks to Dave Elliott, I now have accommodation sorted, but I will need to find a lift up to Minehead as my wife wants to have our car for the weekend. problem is, I don't finish work on saturday until 6pm. Is anyone else going up there late on saturday and would have room for me and my bike?

Just having a quick look at the course, doesn't look as bad as last year: 10,176ft of climbing this year (13000ft last year) and 100miles (108m last year) So more on a par with the D.Classic this year, The climbing seems to be worst in the first section; 2 huge hills in the first 25 miles. Gold time of 6hrs 15mins seems pretty tough though.

I'm doing the 100k with a couple of mates. We're travelling up first thing. Just hoping the weather is going to be ok?
