Nobody else wanting to do this one then? A pity, should be a good one, never done a 2-stage TT before, so how to pace yourself? and it finishes at a pub!

Gary, Debs and I took part in this one, a little different from the usual TTs, 2 stages in one afternoon. I decided that my warm up would consist of a ride up from Buckland to the HQ in the now disused Railway Inn in Princetown. Taking it slowly up Peak hill, trying not to wear out my legs too much, I wasn't really paying attention and had a minor, low-speed off on the cattle grid. Just a little blood on my hands and apparently no damage to the bike. So up to Princetown to sign on, collect number and meet up with Gary, Debs and a few other friends, then back down to the start at Dousland. Starting number 29, I quickly caught 28, almost before we were out of the trees, but 30 (Lee Sanderson) also soon came passed us both before we'd reached the top of Peak hill. With a strong westerly blowing us along we all got across the level section pretty quickly and I caught 27 on the steep hill before Princetown. Finished in 15:52 which was about 20th of 30. Immediately after the finish I realised I had a broken spoke and a bent wheel. Removed the spoke and loosened off the rear brake and the wheel was running freely, if a bit eccentically. Gary was 4th and Debbie a couple of mins behind me. After studying the results of the first leg we had a wait of an hour in the pub while the weather outside deteriotated. By the time we left for the second leg it was raining hard and the wind had got even stronger. Second leg started at Mooreshop and finished at Rundlestone, things went pretty much as they had for the first leg; I caught 28 and 27 but 30 went flying past all of us. Back to the pub for final results. Overall winner was Richard Oram. Gary was 3rd, 1sec behind 2nd placed Lee Sanderson. I think I was about 20th and Debbie about 25th. Sean Childs who organised this event said that the Navy/marines CA would be organiseing a 25mile 2man TT in the spring. I've done a couple of these and they're great fun, I'll be doing it, I think Debbie and Rach would have a good chance of winning the ladies event. Any other pairs interested?
